You are right that many feelings such as fear, sadness, empathy etc. are due to biological responses to the stimuli that require carbon based systems and as such not accessible to silicon based AI systems. That being said, AI can certainly 'fake' feelings to the point where it is difficult to tell. Even with another human, how certain are we about what they are feeling within?! If an AI system puts out all the right words and tones that we pick up as cues for others' feelings, it will seem to have feelings from our perspective.

And I agree totally with you that the experiencer self isn't actually conscious at all. It is technically only 'reflecting' consciousness of the awarer. That's why I make the case that the notion of personhood built on experiences and images in memory can be easily faked by AI again.
